Paypal Vulnerability on Front Page of SERPs

I was recently checking out a search for PayPal and noticed something interesting, www.paypal.com was listed twice as the URL of a domain in the first page. The first was the correct address, which directed you to paypal.com, the second sent you off to another domain.  Not only did they make the page displayed as paypal.com, but they also are top ten for a fairly high trafficked keyword.  Imagine if someone did this for banks, trading websites, and even eBay, etc….
PayPal Vulnerablility
This allows the website owner to display a URL that is not owned by them in the URL information location in Google’s results page. I also noticed that Yahoo and MSN do not have this result in their top 10, only Google. Tracking it down, I realized this exploit is really not that difficult, and is something Google really needs to fix immediately. Talk about your ultimate phishing opportunity, my goodness!

Improving Your Existing Real World Business

As I was writing an email to one of my new clients, I realized this would be a good bit of information to share with anyone who runs a real world business.  This is a landscaping company, but the model, blog marketing plan, and roll out methods all work in just about every other business.

WebMarketing

“I don’t know how into the Internet you are, or promoting your business online, but there are a lot of different approaches when dealing with a company that already exists and has a substantial revenue stream already in place.

JDSign Interactive Hits 450 Affiliate Programs

I was just entering all of my recent additions to our in-house affiliate management software and I noticed we surpassed 450 active programs.  (This means that we have 400 programs that have either paid us in the last month, or are brand new.)  Today we added an additional 15 programs increasing our February total up over 80 programs.  JDSign Interactive, my Company, has been increasing programs in an effort to learn more about the managerial side of marketing.  We have many exciting things planned for 2007 and just hope I have enough time to create them!

How To: Create a Dialup Connection with Your Blackberry

The step-by-step guide can be downloaded in Microsoft Word. How To Create a Dialup Connection with your Blackberry I formatted the document to work with Any version of office between 97-07. This trick allows you to connect to the internet anywhere that a cellular phone gets a signal. The speed is quite a bit faster than I even expected, and it was a useful tool for me to use when I was moving homes and was without an internet connection for around a week.

Multiple Homepages in Firefox

This is a little older of a tip, but one I wanted to remember in case I ever needed to go back and start my browsing experience from scratch. This is not an original “Schlottke Idea” as I usually like to post, but Lifetutor.com and a couple others have already posted it.

Multiple Homepages in FireFox

All you need to do is go into Tools > Options>

In the homepage: Text box, type in the main URL, and then any other tabs you want to open as well. http://www.google.com|http://schlottke.org/jacob

Unite Your Browsers with FoxMarks and Google Browser Sync

Do you have a laptop, a Work PC, and a Home PC?  Google Browser Sync allows your browser to remember everything you’ve done on another computer.

Browser Sync

How is this useful?  There are a lot of reasons I use it.  Keeping track of forms I only logged into with my home PC- if I take my laptop on the road, I can log in without having to remember the login details.  Ever gone to a website and forgotten where it was because you found it on vacation? Your PC will automatically log into the browser sync server and retract your previous visits.

How To: Delete All Spam Messages in Gmail

Well this should not really be necessary anymore because you have already removed the number by the Spam folder, but if you are completely nuts of ridding yourself of any possible spam, its really simple.  Odds are you’ve glanced past the button a hundred times.  Simply click on the Spam link in the left hand menu, and you will see two buttons, one reads “Delete Forever”, the other “Not Spam”.  Simply select all e-mails and click “Delete Forever”, and the spam is all gone.Gmail

A Call to ShareaSale to Provide More Backed Merchants

I would love to see ShareaSale provide more information about their merchants, especially how they feel about them. Based on the websites current selling ability, I would like to see a metric used to guide marketers in choosing merchants.

ShareaSale

ShareaSale has a great thing going, and my company will really be promoting programs over the next six weeks, but I would love to see them help the Super Affiliates (and everyone, really) in selecting partners.
